How To Create A Project Charter

View Minimum System Requirements        View Scheduled Online Seminars

Overview

The project charter is a "document issued by the project initiator or sponsor that formally authorizes the existence of a project, and provides the project manager with the authority to apply organizational resources to project activities."

Don’t operate on the basis of verbal agreements, casual memos, even if the initiator or sponsor and the customer happen to be your best buddies down the hall and you both work for the same organization.

The Project Charter can most succinctly be described as the agreement between the provider of the product or service, and the customer organization requesting and receiving the project deliverable. It is a tool to obtain commitment from all affected groups and individuals within a specific project.

This session is based on a template that was developed to highlight all standard elements that should be covered in the project charter to formalize a project.
